Teachers at Calvary Academy Day Care have exceeded the minimum qualifications to be teacher certified through DCFS. The teacher assistants are well qualified and help in the day to day classroom structure. Each staff member is a Christian and maintains a regular and contributing involvement in a church. All staff members have completed a background check with the State of Illinois and have to complete 15 hours of continuing education yearly.
Janell McGuire-Director
Ms. Janell has been working as Director of Calvary Academy Day Care since August of 2003. She originally went to college for Elementary Education but after working in a daycare center, she fell in love with the innocent nature that early childhood children possess.
Ms. Janell's favorite thing about being a director is the impact she is making in the lives of the
children and the families that come to the daycare center. She is able to show Christ's love and compassion through this ministry. She believes love plays a vital role in early childhood development.
Ms. Janell's favorite Bible verse is 1 Corinthians 13:4-8a: "Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It does not dishonor others, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres. Love never fails."
Betsy England-Director
Ms. Betsy started working at Calvary Academy in 1989 as a pre-school teacher. In 1992, Calvary opened the daycare and she began working there as the Assistant Director and a teacher in the Pre-K program. In 1996, Ms. Betsy moved into the role of Director of Calvary Academy Day Care.
Ms. Betsy chose a profession in early childcare because she loves children. She always thought she would be a school teacher but when she was in college she saw the importance of early childhood development and moved in that direction. Her heart is to make a difference in this world, one child at a time.
Ms. Betsy's favorite Bible Verse is Philippians 4:9: "Whatever you have learned or received or heard from me, or seen in me - put it into practice. And the God of peace will be with you."
